Types of Anchors Used in Concrete

Wedge Anchor
Wedge anchors, not lag bolts, are the most common type of anchor used in concrete. As the bolt is tightened, the expansion valve is pushed up against a sleeve.

The end of the bolt is thus jammed into the concrete and provides the strength to hold another material such as a steel beam into place.

Epoxy Anchors
Epoxy concrete anchors are designed for use in underwater applications or in areas where moisture may intrude into the concrete. The epoxy is injected into the hole at the same time as the anchor bolt is placed while the concrete is being cast. This allows the epoxy to solidify at the same time as the concrete, forming an impenetrable barrier.
